“Menopause, Metabolism, Weightloss” - Kathi Cohen

Welcome to "Embrace Your Health" by NAMA-PAAC

This opening workshop will discuss how menopause and aging affects metabolism and weight and offers science backed strategies to regain balance, energy, and confidence. You will learn how menopause influences metabolism, appetite, and energy levels. In addition, Hormone Replacement Therapy(HRT) benefits, risks, who many be a good candidate will be discussed as well as bio identical hormones benefits and challenges. And the role of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1 therapies in appetite and control will be covered.

Mini-Workshop “Explore Eastern Medicine for Menopause - Herbs, Principles, and Practices, Jennifer Samanth

Immerse yourself in the wisdom of traditional Eastern approaches to menopause and aging. The session will explore how herbs and holistic principles from Eastern medicine can support comfort, balance and vitality during these transitions. You will learn core principles of eastern medicine including balancing yin-yang, heat and cold, and internal moisture, common herbs, formulas and teas and how to coordinate with your care team. Samples may be provided.

This concise, evidence informed session will address the often-overlooked issue of pelvic pain during the menopausal transition and aging years and pairs it with practical strategies for broader pain management. Learn how hormonal changes, aging, and lifestyle factors can contribute to pelvic discomfort and how to pursue effective relief.

Interactive Activity - Mini-Workshop “Postural Alignment, Energy, Pilates, Strength and Conditioning”, Leslie Evangelista Tietjen

This dynamic workshop blends postural alignment, energy optimization, and Pilates inspired strength and conditioning with a focus on menopause and aging. How menopause-related changes (decreased estrogen, changes in muscle mass, joint stiffness, sleep disruption) can affect your exercise routine and what is the recommended path. Injury prevention and quick routines and take-home plans to maintain posture, energy and strength during this time.

12:40 - 1:00 PM  Interactive Activity - Mini-Workshop “Wholesome Habits, Integrative Nutrition and Recipes”, Randie Rubin

This practical, evidence-informed workshop guides you through nourishing eating patterns, body-aware nutrition, and delicious, menopause-friendly recipes. Learn how metabolic and hormonal changes during midlife influence appetite, energy, and body composition, and how to build sustainable habits that support health and vitality. You will learn the Principles of integrative nutrition: balancing macronutrients, fiber, protein, and micronutrients to support bone, heart, and metabolic health. Recipes will be provided!

Explore how joints, inflammation, and arthritis intersect with menopause and aging, and discover practical strategies to move with comfort and confidence. This evidence-informed session translates research into actionable steps you can use to reduce pain, improve function, and support overall well-bring during midlife and beyond. You will learn how hormonal changes during menopause and aging influence joint, health, inflammation, perception, and mobility.

We will end with an open Panel where attendees can ask questions regarding any of the topics that were discussed.
